"The Economics
of Manufacturing in China"
½
Day Workshop
Presented
by Walt Benecki
President, Walter T. Benecki LLC
This workshop is designed for general management, manufacturing
and financial executives who are interested in evaluating the economics
of possibly transferring operations or establishing a manufacturing
capability in mainland China. After a short update of the current
status and trends in China's manufacturing sector, workshop participants
will have the opportunity to complete a comprehensive financial
analysis relating specifically to their own business.
Total cost reduction
potential will be identified. All related upfront investments and
expenses associated with a China start-up will be considered. The
modeling will include analysis of China manufacturing costs, including
labor, purchased materials and components, as well as facility operating
costs.
Risks and contingencies
will be identified. The result will be a payback analysis that will
demonstrate the benefit (or lack thereof) of a potential investment
in China manufacturing. All modeling data will remain the exclusive
property of each workshop participant and will not be made available
to the workshop leader or workshop attendees.
Each workshop
attendee will receive a notebook containing all the presentation
slides and charts, plus detailed formats for financial modeling
of a China manufacturing operation. Limited advanced preparation
(data collection) will be required. Participants are encouraged
to bring a calculator.
Walt Benecki is President of Walter T. Benecki LLC, a Chicago-based
management consultancy. Mr. Benecki was president of the Magnetic
