Five Promoted at Electron Energy Corporation
Landisville, PA, May 14, 2008 — Electron Energy
Corporation (EEC), one of the world’s foremost producers of rare earth
magnets and magnet assemblies for critical applications, announced the
promotion of five employees. EEC President, Michael H. Walmer,
made the announcement.
Peter Dent was appointed Vice President of Business
Development. Kathy Hambleton was named Vice
President of Finance. Steve Hawthorne was promoted to Vice
President of Manufacturing. Jinfang Liu was named Vice
President of Technology and Engineering. And Bob Zook was promotedto Director of Quality.
Dent joined EEC in 2003 as Director of Sales and Marketing. In his
new position, he will be responsible for managing the company’s inside and
outside sales teams and meeting corporate growth objectives. Dent earned his
bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Lehigh University
and has over 25 years of experience in engineering, sales and marketing.
Prior to joining EEC, he spent four years as president and CEO of Leonardo Da Vinci's Horse, Inc.,
Allentown, PA. Previously, he
worked as an engineer at Air Products & Chemicals, Allentown,
PA, and
was national sales manager for Lakeshore Cryotronics,
Westerville, OH. He lives in Allentown.
Hambleton has led the EEC
finance group since 1988 and served as manager of accounting
and corporate treasurer. As Vice President of Finance, she will be
responsible for all financial functions, including budgeting, forecasting,
financial analysis, accounts payable, accounts receivable, strategic
planning, and financial policies and procedures. She earned a bachelor’s
degree from Elizabethtown College and an MBA from Lebanon Valley
College. Kathy is a
member of the Vistage Key Executive Group 959. She
resides in Lebanon, PA.
Hawthorne, who has been with EEC since 1972, has
supervised several manufacturing departments as Director of Operations. In
his new role, he will lead production activities in five major production
areas: Powder, Press, Sinter, Machine and TWT Adjusting. He also will be
responsible for balancing capacity with demand and meeting commitments to
customers in the areas of quality and production performance. Steve is a
member of the Vistage Key Executive Group 936. He
is a resident of Mount Joy,
PA.
Liu will be responsible for maintaining EEC’s technical
superiority in three areas: production processes, design and technical
support for customers, and new product development. He has expertise in
high-performance magnet materials, including Nd-Fe-B
sintered and bonded magnets, Sm-Co magnets and nano-composite magnets. He serves as the principal
investigator for a number of programs funded by the Air Force, Army, Navy,
NASA, DARPA, DoE and NSF. As Director of
Technology at EEC for the past five years, Liu has completed many
industrially-funded projects for aerospace customers.
He earned his B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Hebei University of Technology, an M.S. in Materials
Science and Engineering from Harbin University of Technology, and a Ph.D. in
Solid State Physics from the Institute
of Physics, Chinese
Academy of Sciences, China. He has
over 20 years of research experience in the field of rare earth permanent
magnets and systems. Liu is a resident of West
Hempfield Township, Lancaster,
PA.
Zook will be responsible
for implementing a quality program that supports performance goals and
maintains the company’s position as the dominant producer of quality rare
earth magnet products and services. He has 27 years of experience in process
engineering and plant management. Prior to joining EEC, he was a consultant
providing services in all areas of management including QA, MRP and
productivity improvement. He earned a B.S. in Ceramic Science and an M.S. in
Counseling Education from the Pennsylvania
State University,
and has done graduate work for an MBA at the University
of Houston in Texas. Bob lives in Hershey, PA.
