SMMA
is the North American association, with a global focus,
for electric motors, drives and their control and application.
It serves as the principal voice of the industry and
provides a forum to develop, collect and disseminate
technical and management knowledge.
To provide a structure, through management and technical knowledge, skills and resources of the member companies - both domestic and international - to strengthen the industry.
To expand recognition of the value of SMMA within member companies and the industry as the preeminent source of design, manufacturing and materials technical knowledge.
To provide resources to support expansion of the Motor & Motion College and related educational programs, statistical and market research projects and the monitoring of regulatory and legislative issues.
To provide, through the Electric Motor Education and Research Foundation (EMERF), support for pre-competitive research and education.
